Last week I saw a film, perhaps you have heard of it, called 'Yes Man'. If you don't know what the story is basically there is a guy (played by Jim Carrey) who doesn't say yes, ever. His life is going pretty badly if we are honest so his friend persuades him to go to a Yes conference. Therein a Covent is placed upon him where he must say yes, and from this point in hilarity and fun times insure for both the character and you watching.

This film got me and me friend a thinking and we decide it would be fun to try this out for ourselves, so from 12am 18th November 2011 until 12am 19th January 2012 we shall be saying YES!

Of course for any plan to work out smoothly and be realistic we did have to come up with a few ground rules, so here they are:

  1. 'NO' is band! (alternatives such as 'I am not keen on that' are available, but try not to use them)
  2. In certain situations where you are asked if you have done something, have something or know something you may use one of the alternative words/phrases but still cannot say NO
  3. We shall be saying YES for a period of 2 months (in the datas that are stated above)
  4. We must have a camera on our person AT ALL TIMES. This is so that we can document all the fun we are having and have evidence that we actually did do these things
  5. We will also be carrying a note pad at all times and will write down every time we say Yes to something we would normally say NO to
  6. Knowledge of those participating cannot be used for personal gain (My friend and I are the only two who know about this so we must make sure that we do not abuse the knowledge we have for personal/malicious gain)
  7. There is only one time when we are exempt from saying YES and this is during Children In Need on Friday 18th November (Children In Need is an annual Charity event in the UK whereby there is a marathon fund raising show where every few minutes you are asked to donate money, due to finance situations and the fact the show lasts around 6 hours we are able to decline each time they ask for money - of course a donation will be made at least once)
  8. Saying YES doesn't just apply to questions if someone gives you a command or a statement you still have to say YES
Well that is all the rules. I am terrified yet excited to start this and am slightly intrigued as to where it will all lead.

My friend shall be posting blog updates about her adventure to so check out her blog at: http://www.emilys-list.blogspot.com/

If any of you are interested her is the trailor for YES MAN, maybe you will decide to say YES to!
